Today is June 28, 2022, the day when my junior high school entrance examination ends, and also the day when my junior high school life comes to an end.
When the primary school to junior high school transition ended, I faced a choice - whether to apply to my current school or choose the best private junior high school in the local area. This was a happy dilemma, but it really made me think for a long time. In the end, with the insistence of my family, I chose to study at my current school, a school that I am very familiar with [hereinafter referred to as "RS"].
Academic Life#
In-Class#
When I first entered the junior high school department of RS, I thought I was wearing a halo (after all, I was in Class A and didn't have to pay for food and drink), but as soon as I entered the class, I was shocked. I was the 17th student in the class, while the 16th and 18th students were both top students in primary school. I felt a lot of pressure, so when introducing myself, I just said "I'm under a lot of pressure." And in the first exam, it proved my point - I only got a second prize. But at that time, I still had a strong motivation, and I achieved the best results in the whole grade in the mid-term exam - at that time, I never thought that it would be the only time I ranked first in the whole grade. After that, I experienced the most painful lesson in my entire junior high school life. In that exam, I focused too much on the last question in mathematics and ended up failing all the other questions, resulting in the lowest ranking in the whole junior high school - 60+. Since then, I have become more cautious, and my grades have remained in the top 10.
In the second half of seventh grade, we encountered the pandemic and started online classes. That period of time was probably the happiest time for me (after all, I could slack off), and I learned a lot of computer technology during that time. Of course, this semester was relatively stable, and I basically stayed in the top ten.
In eighth grade, I successfully became the top student. In this school year, I achieved consecutive top three rankings, but in the final exam of the first semester, I only got a second prize - the second worst result in my junior high school life! The academic life was plain and the focus was on extracurricular studies.
In ninth grade, I felt a tense atmosphere from the beginning. The teachers kept reminding us of the countdown to the high school entrance examination, and the competition among classmates became more intense. Fortunately, I performed consistently well this year and could maintain a first prize ranking.
And then came the highly anticipated high school entrance examination. This year's exam was unexpectedly easy, and many students even felt that they had wasted three years of junior high school. Actually, this was not a good thing for the students from our school, especially for students like me who couldn't widen the score gap anymore. So, I went through three boring days of the high school entrance examination, and my junior high school life came to an end in a hurry.
Extracurricular Activities#
Personally, I think my extracurricular activities were more interesting than my academic life.
In these three years, I probably won the most awards in the entire RS. Not to mention the regular awards after each exam, I also won awards in district-level geography, mathematics, English, and physics competitions (I ranked second in the district in English by half a point). In addition, I also won awards in city-level and provincial-level computer competitions (actually, during online classes, I wrote an OA system when I had nothing to do and ended up winning a second prize at the provincial level).
Besides that, I probably also hold the record for the most "titles" in RS. I was named "Outstanding Class Cadre" in the district, "Three Good Students" in the city, and nominated for "Nanyue Youth" in the province...
These were probably the few things that I could consider as achievements (vanity) in these three years.
Complaints#
Academic#
To be honest, I'm not really a nerd (although some people mistakenly think I am). Before entering ninth grade, I never did any practice questions. But in the summer vacation of eighth grade, everything changed. Encouraged by two neighbors, I joined the army of doing practice questions. After entering ninth grade, due to the previous year's math exam, I started doing a lot of related exercises, such as "questions without diagrams," "generals and horses," "hidden circles"... (although I still don't really understand "hidden circles" until now). So, on many working days, I studied until after midnight, with less than 5.5 hours of sleep every day (there was even one week when I slept less than 30 hours in total). However, no one could have expected that this year's high school entrance examination would be so simple (you did a great job, Examination Yuan)!
Health#
Under such a heavy academic load, I also experienced some health problems. In the second half of ninth grade, I experienced symptoms of hypoglycemia and high blood pressure due to excessive nervousness. My blood pressure even reached "150+/100+" a few times, and my heart rate was also very unstable, with a difference of nearly 150 beats.
Social Life#
Although I don't want to admit it, I'm really not good at socializing, especially in ninth grade when almost the whole class treated me as a public enemy. I think the reasons for this are as follows:
- They think I don't understand things (although sometimes I pretend not to understand).
- They think I show off sometimes (everyone has different perspectives, and I can't argue with that).
- They think my competitiveness affects them (but actually, I'm not competitive, they are).
- ...
However, I am fortunate to have a group of friends who support me, starting from seventh grade with the "mur cat group" to Kai Xiong in ninth grade (although we didn't sit together in the final exam, which made me sad).
Overall, I think I have failed in socializing.
Open Source#
During my three years of junior high school life, I actively participated in the open-source community and learned many new computer technologies. I developed my first Python package, django-vditor, and contributed to the development of ArozOS.
Emotions#
Family#
After entering junior high school and entering adolescence, conflicts with my parents were inevitable. Although some of my parents' behaviors puzzled me, overall, I am grateful to them.
Adolescent Romance#
To be honest, there is no such thing as a good romance.
